• Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her tireless advocacy of democracy in Venezuela.
• Recognized by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Machado has fought for democratic rights, free elections, and a peaceful transition from authoritarian rule to democracy.
• She is the founder of Súmate, an organization dedicated to democratic development in Venezuela.

Russia moves to withdraw from plutonium agreement with the US.

• Russia's lower house of parliament has approved the withdrawal from the Plutonium Management and Disposition Agreement (PMDA) with the United States.
• The PMDA, signed in 2000 and effective from 2011, required both countries to dispose of 34 tonnes of weapons-grade plutonium each, enough for around 17,000 nuclear warheads.

HDFC Bank Launches "My Business QR".

• HDFC Bank introduced My Business QR, a first-of-its-kind commerce identity QR for small businesses, at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025.
• The innovation aims to help retailers transition from offline to online commerce, enhancing their discoverability, customer engagement, and payment capabilities.
• My Business QR is integrated into HDFC Bank’s SmartHub Vyapar app.

Maharashtra, Spain Sign MoU to Set Up World-Class Convention Centre.

• Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced plans for a world-class convention centre in Nagpur, equipped with modern facilities.
• A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Maharashtra government and Fira Barcelona International, a leading company from Spain.
• The convention centre will be well-connected by all modes of transport and serve as a cultural hub.

IUCN and IRENA Sign MoU to Ensure Renewable Energy Transition.

• The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi.
• Through this partnership, IUCN and IRENA will work to promote the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, while addressing potential environmental impacts.
