China opens world’s longest expressway tunnel in Xinjiang.

• China has opened the Tianshan Shengli Tunnel, the world’s longest expressway tunnel.
• The tunnel is located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
• It has a total length of 22.13 kilometres, making it the longest of its kind globally.
• The tunnel passes through the Tianshan Mountains in central Xinjiang.
• Construction used China’s indigenously developed hard rock tunnel boring machine (TBM).

India launches first national weapon database to curb terrorism.

• The Union Government has launched India’s first national weapon database.
• The initiative aims to strengthen the fight against terrorism, organised crime and extremism.
• The database is named the Lost, Looted and Recovered Firearm (LLRF) database.
• It was launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
• The database is developed and managed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

India notifies first agarbatti quality standard IS 19412:2025.

• BIS notified India’s first agarbatti standard IS 19412:2025.
• The standard was announced on National Consumer Day 2025.
• It bans harmful insecticides such as alethrin, permethrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin, and fipronil.
• It restricts synthetic fragrance chemicals like benzyl cyanide and ethyl acrylate.
• India is the world’s largest producer and exporter of agarbattis.

IIT Patna inaugurates Bihar’s first Param Rudra supercomputer.

• IIT Patna inaugurated Bihar’s first supercomputer, Param Rudra.
• Param Rudra will enhance advanced research and high-performance computing in the region.
• It will support students, faculty, and researchers in solving complex scientific problems.
• Param Rudra is the first supercomputer installed in any institute or government office in Bihar.
