• National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), under the Ministry of Textiles, inaugurated the Exclusive Handloom Expo Virasat Shakti at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi.
• The expo celebrates India’s handloom heritage and highlights the role of women artisans.
• Provides a platform for women-led craftsmanship, economic empowerment, and direct market access for skilled weavers nationwide.

MY Bharat Rolls Out Phase–2 of Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect in Delhi from 9 March 2026.

• Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, via MY Bharat, launched Phase–2 of the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme (VBYCP) in Delhi from 9 March 2026.
• Phase–2 builds on the success of Phase–1 in 2025.

RM Nachammai Becomes 1st Woman to Head a Functional Nuclear Power Plant in India.

• RM Nachammai becomes India’s first woman Chief Superintendent of an operational nuclear power plant.
• Assumed charge of Kaiga Generating Station Units 3 & 4, Karnataka, on 15 March 2026 under Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL).
• Oversees Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering Support divisions of the reactor complex.
• Role is highly technical and one of the most responsible positions in India’s nuclear sector.

DRDO Funds Bharathiar University with ₹99.15 Lakh for Innovative Antidote Research.

• DRDO (Ministry of Defence, India) sanctioned a ₹99.15 lakh research project to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
• Project title: Development of Novel Antidote(s) for Highly Toxic Organophosphorous Compounds.
• Executed under DRDO Industry Academia – Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE) at Bharathiar University.
• Duration: 36 months (3 years).
• Objective: Design advanced antidotes to neutralize highly toxic organophosphorous compounds (OPCs) used in industry and agriculture.
• Focus: Counter severe toxic effects on the human nervous system.
