  • Bajrang Punia, a silver medallist at the 2018 World Wrestling Championships, will be the flag-bearer at the closing ceremony on August 8.
  • The Indian contingent will consist of "around 201" members.



J&K authorities banned the use, possession and transport of drones in Srinagar.

  • The Srinagar administration warned that the sale, possession, storage, use and transport of drones would invite action.
  • Persons already having drone cameras/unmanned aerial vehicles in their possession shall ground the same in the local police station.

  • Aeronautical engineer, Sirisha Bandla, is the 2nd Indian-American woman after Kalpana Chawla to enter space on 11 July.
  • Sirisha Bandla will fly into space as a part of billionaire Richard Branson's Unity 22 mission aboard Virgin Galactic flight, VSS Unity.
  • She will be a part of the six-member crew that will fly to the edge of the space on July 11th.
  • Sirisha Bandla was born in Andhra Pradesh and grew up in Houston.
