India, Sri Lanka and Maldives conducted the virtual trilateral exercise "TTX-2021".

  • The exercise focuses on combating maritime crimes such as narcotics and aiding in maritime search and rescue in the region.
  • The two-day exercise, TTX-2021 aimed to enhance mutual understanding and exchange of best practices
  • and procedures for combating common transnational crime, was coordinated by Maritime Warfare Centre, Mumbai.



Uttar Pradesh's Manduadih railway station has been renamed as Banaras.

  • Manduadih railway station has been renamed as Banaras by North Eastern Railway (NER).
  • After the Railway Board gave its approval for the new name, the NER replaced the old signboard with a new one, which had Benaras written on it.



Digital platform "Kisan Sarathi" launched to facilitate farmers.

  • To facilitate farmers to get right information at right time in their desired language, a digital platform named KisanSarathi was launched.
  • Launched through video conference on 16th July 2021 on the occasion of 93rd ICAR Foundation Day.



India is launching the first pod taxi service between Noida Airport to Film City.

  • Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) also known as Pod Taxis will make its debut in India from Noida International Airport to Film City in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Pod taxis have been a popular mode of commute in several western countries, and can accommodate four to six passengers per car.
  • Pod taxi will run around 14 km from Film City to Noida Airport.
  • This advanced public transport system is cost effective, environment friendly causing less pollution.



Andhra Pradesh will give 10% reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).

  • Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced 10% reservation for Kapu community and other Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
  • In appointments to initial posts and services in the State Government in accordance with the Constitution (103rd Amendment) Act, 2019.
  • Persons who are not covered under the existing scheme of reservation for SC, ST and Socially & Educationally Backward Classes,
  • whose total family income is less than Rs.8 lakh per annum, will get the benefit of EWS reservation.
