Russia launches "Nauka" module to International Space Station.
- A Russian Proton-M rocket carrying the new Nauka laboratory module for the International Space Station lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
- The module's long-planned journey to the ISS will take eight days
- And is expected to dock to the nadir port of Russia's Zvezda service module on July 29.
Perumkulam becomes 1st "village of books" in Kerala.
- Perumkulam is a small Village in Kulakkada near Kottarakkara in Kollam District.
- Bapuji Smarak Grandshala, a village library, is at the forefront of this effort to make it the first book village in the state.
- The library instills a passion for reading by setting up bookshelves, or book nests, in different corners of the village.
- Anyone can pick up, read and put back books from the Book Nest.
- Perumkulam has 10 little boxes of 50 books each, one at every important junction.
"Telangana Dalit Bandhu" scheme for Dalit empowerment.
- Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will launch his government's new Dalit empowerment scheme.
- The scheme will be launched as a pilot project in Huzurabad constituency.
- Under the scheme, eligible Dalit families will be given Rs 10 lakh in cash directly in their account.
- The sanctioned amount will be deposited in the bank accounts of the eligible beneficiaries.
Mongolia, Tajikistan and Switzerland became the three new members of the ICC.
- The International Cricket Council (ICC) welcomed its newest member countries, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Switzerland, to the 78th Annual General Meeting of the ICC.
- The meeting, which was held virtually, welcomed Mongolia and Tajikistan as the 22nd and 23rd members of the Asia region,
- while Switzerland is the 35th member of Europe, with the ICC now totaling 106 members, including 94 associates.
