Russian filmmaker Klim Shipenko becomes the 1st person to shoot a film in space.

  • A Russian film crew has set a record by starting a motion picture shooting session for the first time aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
  • Russian film director Klim Shipenko and actress Yulia Peresild spent 12 days aboard the ISS filming sequences of 30 minutes duration for the film The Challenge.
  • The Challenge is the first feature film to be shot in space.
  • The film is based on the life of a female doctor who goes to space to save the life of an astronaut.



Defence Minister launched the book on Veer Savarkar.

  • Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched a book titled Veer Savarkar: The Man Who Can Have Prevented Partition authored by Uday Mahurkar and Chirayu Pandit at the Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
  • Minister Rajnath Singh described Savarkar as an icon of Indian history and also described his contribution to a nation which was not yet considered and highlighted the time-long controversies over the great leader Savarkar.



India ranks 79th in the World Justice Project's Rule of Law Index 2021.

  • India is ranked 79th out of 139 countries and jurisdictions in the World Justice Project's (WJP) Rule of Law Index 2021.
  • The WJP Rule of Law Index 2021 ranks countries based on a score from 0 to 1, with 1 indicating the strongest adherence to rule of law
  • Denmark, Norway and Finland top the World Justice Project's (WJP) Rules Index 2021.
  • 8 factors are considered for the ranking: restrictions on government powers, zero corruption, open government, access to fundamental rights, order and security, regulatory enforcement, civil justice and criminal justice.
  • The final place in 139th was marked by Venezuela, RB.



Russian activist Alexei Navalny wins the European Union's Sakharov Prize.

  • The European Parliament has awarded the European Union's top human rights award, the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought for 2021, to imprisoned Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
  • The 45-year-old activist has been honored for his immense personal bravery in fighting tirelessly against the corruption of Vladimir Putin's regime.
  • The Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, commonly known as the Sakharov Prize, is the European Parliament's top human rights award.
  • The award honors individuals and groups of people who have dedicated their lives to the defense of human rights and freedom of thought.



Sahdev Yadav was appointed as the President of the Weightlifting Federation of India.

  • The Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has appointed veteran sports administrator Sahdev Yadav as its president.
  • He has been appointed for a term of four years.
  • Other appointments include Secretary General – Anand Goude and Treasurer – Naresh Sharma.
  • Apart from this, 10 vice-presidents, four joint secretaries and seven executive members were also elected.
