NITI Aayog launches "Innovation for You" Digi-Book.

  • NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has launched a Digi-Book named Innovation for You.
  • The focus area in this Digi-Book is Healthcare.
  • This book is a compilation of 45 health tech startups incubated in Atal Incubation Centers spread across the country.
  • Innovation for You is an initiative of NITI Aayog to share the success stories of startups of Atal Innovation Mission in various sectors.



Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the two new teams of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

  • Ahmedabad and Lucknow are the two new teams that will be part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2022. Hence the total number of teams in the competition is reduced to ten.
  • RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group (RPSG) owns the Lucknow team while CVC Capital Partners owns the Ahmedabad team.
  • For Lucknow, RPSG Group has given Rs. 7090 crore, while CVC Capitals aka Irelia has won the bid for Ahmedabad for Rs. 5625 crores.
  • The first season of IPL was played in 2008.
  • There have been fourteen seasons of the IPL tournament. In the 15th season, 10 teams will fight for the IPL title.



Former NIO Scientist Dr. Rajiv Nigam selected for 2022 Joseph A. Cushman Award.

  • Dr. Rajiv Nigam, the former Chief Scientist at CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, has been selected for the 2022 Joseph A. Cushman Award for Excellence in Foraminiferal Research.
  • Dr. Nigam is the 1st Indian citizen to be selected for the prestigious award.
  • He has been selected for his outstanding lifelong contribution to foraminifera (microfossil) research.
  • He will receive the award at the Cushman Reception during the 2022 Geological Society of America meeting in Denver, Colorado, USA, from October 9-12-2022.
  • The Joseph A. Cushman Award was established by USA based Cushman foundation for foraminiferal Research in 1979.



India, UK and Australia will jointly launch the IRIS initiative at COP26.

  • India, Australia, and the UK in collaboration with small island developing states (SIDS), have planned to launch a new initiative Infrastructure for Resilient Island States (IRIS), on the sidelines of the Conference of Parties (COP26).
  • The IRIS platform aims to create an infrastructure that can withstand disasters and reduce economic losses in the island nations.
  • The IRIS initiative will be launched with an initial funding of $10 million from Australia, India and the UK.
  • The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 12, 2021.



India's 1st "test tube" bunny buffalo calf was born in Gujarat.

  • The first IVF calf of Bunni breed of buffalo, which is mainly found in Kutch region of Gujarat, was born in Gir Somnath district.
  • This first IVF Banni calf is born out of six Banni IVF pregnancies established at the doorsteps of a farmer, Vinay L Wala of Sushila Agro farms, located at Dhanej in Somnath district of Gujarat.
  • The process was carried out to increase the number of genetically superior buffaloes to increase milk production.
  • Production of calves by deploying ART will pave the way for rapid multiplication of better animals at a much faster rate.
  • There are more than 109 million buffaloes in India which constitute 56 percent of the world's buffalo population.
