India's first state-owned wildlife DNA analysis laboratory has been inaugurated at the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) in Nagpur, Maharashtra.
At present there are two wildlife DNA laboratories owned by the Central Government. These are located in Dehradun and Hyderabad.
The new facility will enable authorities in Maharashtra to quickly obtain DNA reports of animals affected by threats such as human-wildlife conflict or poaching, which until now, were sent to laboratories in Hyderabad or Dehradun for testing and authorities had to wait for months to get the report.

The Armed Forces of India and the United Kingdom (UK) are undertaking the sea phase of the first tri-services exercise Konkan Shakti 2021 off the Konkan coast in the Arabian Sea from October 24 to 27, 2021.
The seven-day exercise was held in Mumbai from October 21 to 23, 2021.
The Konkan Shakti 2021 exercise aims to further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.

State-owned GAIL (India) Ltd will build India's largest green hydrogen generating plant as it seeks to supplement its natural gas business with carbon-free fuel.
GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Jain said the company is looking at manufacturing a 10 megawatt (MW) electrolyser capable of generating 4.5 tonnes of green hydrogen per day.
The firm has already floated a global tender to buy the electrolyzer and is expecting deliveries in 12-14 months.
This will be twice the size announced by the state power producer NTPC.

Noted journalist and author Chidananda Rajaghatta has authored a new book titled Kamala Harris: Phenomenal Woman, a biography of Kamala Harris, the 1st woman Vice President of the United States of America (USA).
The book depicts the events in the life of Kamala Harris, a woman of mixed race (India and Jamaica).
She has become the 1st Indian-origin, 1st woman to become the Vice President of the United States.

AU Small Finance Bank has announced the launch of a QR code sound box to provide instant voice-based payment alerts to merchant partners.
This is a 1st of its kind product launched by a bank.
QR Code Sound Box is a small and portable speaker with a dedicated SIM slot for data connectivity to deliver voice notifications.
