Indian Railways launches Bharat Gaurav theme-based circuit trains to boost tourism.

  • Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has informed that the Ministry of Railways has started new theme based circuit trains for the tourism sector in the name of Bharat Gaurav Trains.
  • These trains will showcase India's rich cultural heritage and historical places to the people of India and the world.
  • Bharat Gaurav Tourist Trains can be run by any organization including government enterprise or private players.
  • The service providers will be free to decide the theme of the train circuit and the rates to be charged.



Union Minister Jitendra Singh launched the world's 1st multimodal brain imaging data and analytics "Swadesh".

  • Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology, inaugurated Project Swadesh on November 19, 2021.
  • The Swadesh project is a 1st of its kind large-scale multimodal neuroimaging database specifically designed for the Indian population.
  • The Unique Brain Initiative has been developed by DBT-National Brain Research Center (DBT-NBRC), Gurgaon, Haryana.
  • Swadesh brings together big-data architecture and analytics for various neurological diseases under one platform.
  • This will enable researchers to conduct multimodal brain studies to understand and manage Alzheimer's disease and several neurological disorders.
  • DBT-NBRC is the only institute in India dedicated to neuroscience research and education.



India and Germany launches the WISER program for lateral entry for women researchers in joint R&D projects.

  • A program called Women's Participation in Science and Engineering Research (WISER) program was started by the Indo-German Science and Technology Center (IGSTC) to encourage women researchers in joint R&D projects.
  • WISER will encourage women researchers in joint R&D projects.
  • IGSTC is a joint initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), Government of Germany.



Collins Dictionary has declared "NFT" as the Word of the Year 2021.

  • Collins Dictionary announced that its Word of the Year is NFT – the digital asset that exploded in popularity this year and with the rise of cryptocurrencies.
  • NFT is an acronym for Fungible Token.
  • According to the Collins Dictionary, NFTs are defined as a unique digital certificate, registered on a blockchain, used to record the ownership of an artwork or collectible asset.
  • The Collins English Dictionary is published by HarperCollins in Glasgow.

  • A retired Indian Army officer, Mr. Maroof Raza has released his new book Contested Lands: India, China and the Boundary Dispute.
  • The book provides a detailed understanding of the historical background and complexities of India's borders with China.
  • It is published by Westland Non-fiction.
