India’s 1st geopark to be set up in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh.
- India’s 1st geological park is being set up at Lamheta village of Jabalpur district in Madhya Pradesh.
- The approval to set up the geopark has been granted by the Geological Survey of India (GSI).
- The estimated cost of setting up the project is Rs 35 crore.
- The geological park will be built in Lamheta, because this place is among significant places in the world, from the geological point of view.
- In 1928, William Henry Sleeman discovered a dinosaur fossil from this area.
- UNESCO has also recognized Lamheta as a geo-heritage site.
- The Lamata Formation is also called the Infratrapian Bed.
- It is a sedimentary geological formation found in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
- It is connected to the Deccan trap.
- It belongs to the Maastrichtian era and is known for fossils of dinosaurs.
Dubai will launch the world's 1st hydrogen-powered flying boat "The Jet".
- THE JET ZeroEmission (Dubai firm) announced the launch of the world's 1st hydrogen-powered flying boat The Jet in Dubai, UAE.
- THE JET' features cutting-edge characteristics and technologies, making it capable of flying in silence over the waters at a cruising speed of 40 knots.
- It also has a capacity of carrying 8-12 passengers.
- Samsung also saw solid momentum in logic chips this year.
- This announcement comes as a result of the agreement signed between Swiss startup THE JET ZeroEmission, UAE-based Zenith Marine Services, and US-based DWYN to manufacture and operate The Jet in Dubai.
- THE JET will have its inaugural flight during the COP28, which is scheduled to be held in Dubai, UAE in 2023.
In FY22, banks will transfer 15 NPA accounts worth Rs 50,000 crore to NARCL.
- National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL) or Bad Bank and India Debt Resolution Company Limited (IDRCL) are ready to start operations.
- A total of 38 Non-Performing Asset (NPA) accounts worth Rs 82,845 crore have been identified to be transferred to NARCL initially.
- In Phase I, 15 stressed assets (i.e. non-performing asset accounts) worth Rs 50,000 crore will be transferred to NARCL in the current financial year.
- Public sector banks have taken majority stake in NARCL, IDRCL will be predominantly owned by private sector banks.
Lt Gen GAV Reddy Succeeds Lt Gen KJS Dhillon As head of Defence Intelligence Agency.
- Lieutenant General GAV Reddy has been appointed as the Director-General of the Defence Intelligence Agency.
- He will replace Lieutenant General KJS Dhillon.
- The post of the director general is held on a rotation basis between the three Armed services- the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force
- The Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) is an intelligence agency responsible for providing and coordinating defence and military intelligence to the Indian Armed Forces.
- It was formed in 2002.
Andhra Pradesh Social activists builds Gandhi Mandiram and Smruthi Vanam at Srikakulam.
- In Andhra Pradesh, a few social activists have built a temple for Mahatma Gandhi (Gandhi Mandiram) and Smrithi Vanam (memorial park) for our great freedom fighters’ at the Municipal Park in Srikakulam.
- The statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Mandiram along with the statues at Smrithi Vanam were unveiled on the eve of Gandhiji’s death anniversary, on January 30, 2022 as a tribute to the Father of Nation and freedom fighters.
- The new initiative will inculcate patriotism among the youths by remembering the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
- The Gandhi temple has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 20 lakh with the help of donors.
