India becomes 1st country to administer COVID-19 DNA vaccine.
- India has become the 1st country in the world to administer a DNA vaccine against COVID-19.
- The ZyCoV-D which is the World’s first plasmid DNA vaccine has been produced by Ahmedabad-based vaccine manufacturer Zydus Cadila.
- And it was administered for the first time in Patna On February 05, 2022.
- It is a Painless and Needleless vaccine given at intervals of 28 days and 56 days.
- It is the 2nd India-made vaccine to get emergency authorization in India after Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.
Jammu and Kashmir topped the India Press Freedom Report 2021.
- India Press Freedom Report 2021 was recently released by Rights and Risk Analysis Group.
- According to the report, 13 media houses and newspapers were targeted in the country, 108 journalists were attacked and 6 journalists were killed.
- Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura top the list of states and union territories where journalists and media houses were targeted in 2021.
- 24 journalists were physically assaulted, interrupted, threatened and harassed for doing their jobs.
- All these attacks were carried out by government officials.
- This also includes police attacks. Of these, 17 were police attacks.
- 44 FIRs were registered against journalists in 2021. Of these, 21 were registered under section 153 of the IPC.
Karnataka Bank wins CII's Digital Transformation Award, "DX 2021 Awards".
- Karnataka Bank has won the digital transformation award, DX 2021 Awards, in recognition of the innovative best practice KBL VIKAAS.
- The award was presented by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for Best Practice in Digital Transformation.
- In 2017, Karnataka Bank launched a wholistic transformation journey named KBL VIKAAS.
- KBL VIKAAS has helped in implementation of digital capabilities, namely, digital journeys for assets and liability products, enhancement in customer experience and so on.
Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launches Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0.
- Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, launched the Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0 on February 07, 2022, virtually.
- The IMI 4.0 will be conducted in 416 districts across 33 states/UTs.
- The programme will be implemented in three rounds, of 7 days each.
- The first round will begin from 7th February 2022, second round from 7th March 2022, and the third round from 4th April 2022.
- In the first round 11 states will be covered. These are Assam, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura and Chhattisgarh.
- Till date, ten phases of Mission Indradhanush have been completed covering 701 districts across the country.
West Bengal Government launches Open-air Classroom "Paray Shikshalaya".
- The Government of West Bengal has launched Pare Shikshaalaya (Neighborhood School), an open-air classroom program for primary and pre-primary students.
- Under the Paraya Shikshalay project, primary and pre-primary students of government schools will be taught in the open.
- The state government will also provide mid-day meals to the students of Paraya Shikshalaya.
- Para teachers and primary school teachers will be part of this project.
- They will provide elementary education to the children of classes 1-5.
