Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) got 1st place in QS World University Rankings.

• Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru has emerged as the highest ranked Indian institute in the 2023 edition of the QS World University rankings, pushing IIT-Bombay to the second position, followed by IIT-Delhi.
• The total number of Indian institutes among the top 1,000 globally has risen to 27 from 22.
• Overall, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is the world’s top University for the 11 consecutive year.
• The University of Cambridge has risen to second place, while Stanford University remains in the third position.

NHAI created new Guinness World Record on NH53, 75 km long highway built in 105 hours.

• Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that a new Guinness World Record was created by NHAI in laying 75 km of bituminous concrete in a single lane on NH53 in 105 hours and 33 minutes.
• The total length of the 75 km of single-lane continuous bituminous concrete road is equivalent to 37.5 km of two-lane paved shoulder road and the work started on 3rd June 2022 at 7:27 am and was completed on June 7, 2022, at 5 pm.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant introduces "Beach Vigil App" to keep an eye on beaches.

• Keeping in mind the beaches of Goa and the associated tourism sector, the chief minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant, recently launched the Beach Vigil App.
• The launch of the app is a bid to boost tourism sector, start-ups in the state, create awareness and simultaneously reduce illegal functionaries.
• The Beach Vigil App will cover everything from reporting illegal hawkers and illegal massage services to beach cleanliness.

Tamil Nadu got the top position among the big states in the fourth state food security index.

• On the occasion of World Food Safety Day, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya releases 4th State Food Safety Index.
• SFSI was started from 2018-19 with the aim of creating a competitive and positive change in the food safety ecosystem in the country.
• The index will help in providing safe and nutritious food to our citizens.
• This year, among the larger states, Tamil Nadu was the top ranking state, followed by Gujarat and Maharashtra.
• Among the smaller states, Goa stood first followed by Manipur and Sikkim.
• Among UTs, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi and Chandigarh secured first, second and third ranks.

All India Council for Technical Education becomes the 1st accreditation body in the world to have office space in the metaverse.

• The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has become the first accreditation body in the world to have its very own office space in the metaverse.
• Polyversity, an educational metaverse was launched on Monday by Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the Government of India.
• The AICTE's metaverse version, which is a simulated digital environment using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR), was launched by IDS.
