Consumer Price Index for industrial workers sees slight decrease.

• The All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) for December 2023 decreased by 0.3 points to 138.8, marking a 0.22% decline compared to the previous month.
• The Food & Beverages group contributed the most to the downward pressure on the index.
• The year-on-year inflation for December stood at 4.91%, slightly lower than the previous month's 4.98%.

RBI imposed major restrictions on Paytm Payments Bank.

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed strict business restrictions on Paytm Payments Bank, prohibiting new deposits, credit transactions, and account top-ups from February 29th onwards.
• The regulatory action follows persistent non-compliances and supervisory concerns identified during a comprehensive external audit of the bank's systems.

WHO honors countries for pioneering efforts in eliminating trans fatty.

• WHO has awarded certificates recognizing five countries—Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand—for their advancements in eliminating both industrially produced and naturally occurring trans fatty acids.
• 53 countries implementing best-practice policies to combat TFA in food and protect 3.7 billion people worldwide.
