Maharashtra becomes first Indian state to buy land in Kashmir.

• Maharashtra is set to be the first Indian state to buy land in J&K for tourist facility, with a 2.5-acre plot near Srinagar airport for Maharashtra Bhawan.
• A land transfer was approved for ₹8.16 crore following CM Eknath Shinde's visit and meeting with Governor Manoj Sinha.
• Post-Article 370 abrogation, non-residents can now own land in J&K, enabling this historic purchase.

Tamil Nadu topped in illegal trade of shark body parts.

• Tamil Nadu has led in the illegal trade of shark body parts, accounting for nearly 65% of seizures between 2010 and 2022, according to TRAFFIC and WWF-India.
• Approximately 16,000 kg of shark fins, constituting about 80% of the shark-derived products seized, have been documented in the analysis.
• TRAFFIC and WWF-India have highlighted the ongoing struggle against the illegal wildlife trade.

100 Jails certified as Eat Right Campus by FSSAI across India.

• According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the highest number of jails certified were from Uttar Pradesh, followed by Punjab, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh.
• By extending the Eat Right Campus certification to prisons and correctional facilities, FSSAI focuses on ensuring access to safe and nutritious food for all, including inmates and prison staff.

Rajasthan govt to give free seed kits to boost millets production.

• The Rajasthan government has decided to distribute free seeds of millets and coarse grains to the state’s farmers in a bid to boost millet production.
• The Govt decided to provide free mini kits of maize seeds to 1.2 million farmers, pearl millet seeds to 800,000 farmers mustard seeds to 700,000 farmers, moong seeds to 400,000 farmers, and sorghum (jowar) and moth seeds to 100,000 farmers.
