Infosys receives world's 1st ISO 42001:2023 Certification for AIMS.

European Union adopts first law to combat violence against women.

  • EU adopted the 1st law to tackle violence against women, which includes action against forced marriages, female genital mutilation, and online harassment.
  • These crimes will be punishable by prison sentences ranging from at least 1 to 5 years.
  • With the approval of the bloc’s 27 nations, it became a law.
  • It allows for harsher punishment if the victim is a child, spouse, or ex-spouse.


India supported Palestine's UN membership bid in UNGA resolution.

  • India voted in favor of UNGA resolution for Palestine's full UN membership.
  • The draft resolution was presented by UAE, received 143 votes in favor, 9 against.
  • India urged Security Council to favorably reconsider Palestine's membership bid.
  • State of Palestine, is a country in the Southern Levant region of West Asia.
  • In 2012 it was designated a non-member observer state by the United Nations.

World's largest plant to extract CO2 from air opened in Iceland.

  • Climeworks has opened the world’s largest operational direct air capture (DAC) plant to suck carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, with its Mammoth plant in Iceland almost ten times larger than the current record holder.
  • The Mammoth DAC plant has a capacity to capture 36,000 metric tons of CO2 a year and will be fully completed by the end of 2024.


India's first utility-scale battery energy storage system got approval.

  • The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has granted regulatory approval for India’s first commercial standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project.
  • This project is supported by The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet.
  • The project, a 20 MW/40 MWh BESS, is set to be installed at BSES Rajdhani Power Limited’s (BRPL) 33/11 kV Kilokari substation.
