Tata Power Launches "Ghar Ghar Solar" Initiative in UP.

• Tata Power Solar Systems Limited has initiated the Ghar Ghar Solar, Tata Power ke Sang campaign to promote rooftop solar installations in Uttar Pradesh, starting from Varanasi.
• Consumers can receive up to Rs 1,08,000 in subsidies, including Rs 78,000 from the Central Government and up to Rs 30,000 from the State Government for installations up to 3 kW.

Mexico’s Elisa de Anda Madrazo Assumes FATF Presidency.

• Elisa De Anda Madrazo will serve as FATF President from July 2024 to June 2026, taking over from T. Raja Kumar of Singapore.
• Until June 2023, she held the position of Vice-President for three years at FATF.
• Previously she served as head of the Mexican delegation and co-led Mexico’s efforts for its Mutual Evaluation in 2016-2017.

The Telecommunications Act 2023: Ushering in a New Era of Connectivity.

• Act replaces outdated colonial-era laws like the Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and Indian Wireless Telegraph Act 1933. Core Principles: Samavesh (Inclusion), Suraksha (Security), Vriddhi (Growth), Tvarit (Responsiveness).
• The Act was passed by Parliament in Dec 2023 and received Presidential assent on Dec 24, 2023.
• Act aims to foster a robust and competitive telecommunications environment.

Writer Sivashankari Receives Dr. C. Narayana Reddy Literary Award.

• Noted Tamil writer Sivashankari has been selected for the Dr. C. Narayana Reddy National Literary Award, which includes a ₹5 lakh cash prize, a memento, and a shawl.
• Sivashankari has authored 36 novels, 48 mini-novels, 150 stories, 15 travelogues, seven essay volumes, four research papers, and two biographies in Tamil.

DRDO unveils indigenous light tank Zorawar.

• The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) have developed the indigenous light tank Zorawar.
• Designed for extreme weather and high-altitude operations along India’s northern border, the tank was developed quickly from the drawing board.
• The tank is named for the 19th century Dogra General Zorawar Singh.
