Razorpay Launches Turbo UPI Plugin on BHIM Vega.

• Razorpay, in collaboration with NPCI BHIM Services Ltd and Axis Bank, launched the Turbo UPI plugin to simplify in-app payments on the BHIM Vega platform.
• The plugin allows customers to complete UPI transactions within apps, eliminating the need to switch to external apps for payments.
• It aims to enhance transaction success rates, reduce friction & improve onboarding for partner businesses.

Global Tariff and Trade Helpdesk Launched.

• GoI has launched a Global Tariff and Trade Helpdesk to assist stakeholders with export-import, logistics, regulatory & financial trade challenges.
• The helpdesk will coordinate with various ministries to resolve issues and streamline trade support across central and state bodies.
• Exporters can raise concerns via the DGFT website, email (dgftedi@nic.in), or toll-free number (1800-111-550).

ICC Forms Task Force for Displaced Afghan Women Cricketers.

• The International Cricket Council, along with BCCI, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and Cricket Australia (CA), launched a task force and support fund to aid displaced Afghan women cricketers through monetary aid and high-performance training.
• The initiative provides access to coaching, facilities & mentorship, ensuring the continuation of their cricketing journey despite challenges.

Maharashtra, ROSATOM to Develop Thorium-Based Reactors.

• Maharashtra signed an MoU with Russia’s ROSATOM to develop thorium-based small modular reactors.
• The project aims to commercialise thorium reactors under AERB safety norms and set up a reactor assembly line under the Make in Maharashtra drive.
• All progress will require the Centre’s approval, though experts support research at the state level to advance thorium energy technology.

Punjab Bans Hybrid Paddy Seeds Over Milling Concerns.

• The Punjab government banned hybrid paddy seed sales citing low Out Turn Ratio (OTR) and high breakage rates, impacting farmer profits.
• Farmers and experts argue hybrids offer higher yields and water efficiency; issues lie in poor harvest timing, drying, and outdated milling tech.
• Experts claim the ban conflicts with the Seed Act, 1966, which permits sale of centrally notified hybrid seeds.
