IYD 2025 Curtain Raiser Held at Sri Lanka’s Oldest Ayurveda University.
- As a curtain raiser to the International Day of Yoga 2025, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Colombo, partnered with the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine to conduct a yoga session for Ayurveda students at Gampaha Wickramarachchi University.
- Founded in 1929 by Pandit G.P. Wickramarachchi, it became a university in March 2021.
Net FDI falls 96% in 2024-25 to $353 mn, gross FDI remains robust.
- As per the RBI, the Net foreign direct investment (FDI) into India crashed by more than 96% to just $353 million in 2024-25 as compared to the previous year.
- Net FDI was dragged down by a surge in money being repatriated out by foreign companies, and increased foreign investments by Indian companies.
- Gross FDI remained elevated in FY25, with 13.7% Y-o-Y growth to clock $81 billion.
Electric buses to be rolled out for Telangana, Delhi, K’taka & Gujarat.
- Union Heavy Industries Minister chaired a meeting in New Delhi on the rollout of electric buses under the PM e-Drive Scheme.
- The session primarily focused on the states of Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, and Gujarat.
- Under the current phase, nearly 4,500 electric buses will be provided to Bengaluru, 2,000 to Hyderabad, 2,800 to Delhi, 1,000 to Ahmedabad, and 600 buses will be given to Surat.
4% reservation for PwD in allocation of central govt residential.
- The government announced a four percent reservation in the allotment of central government housing to persons with disabilities, marking a substantial move towards equity, dignity, and accessibility in public services.
- The landmark step was taken by Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal in a move towards inclusive development.
Wife Divorced On Ground Of Adultery Can't Claim Maintenance.
- The Chhattisgarh High Court has held that a woman who is divorced on the ground of adultery as proved by her former husband, cannot claim maintenance under Section 125 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
- Setting aside the maintenance order, the high court allowed the husband's plea and dismissed the wife's plea.
