Bihar begins vegetable exports to Dubai via VEGFED cooperative.

• Bihar has started exports of green vegetables produced by Cooperative marketing federations, VEGFED, which has been constituted on the lines of the milk cooperative, COMFED.
• A first consignment of 1500 kilograms of green vegetables was sent to Dubai via Varanasi.
• The next shipment of vegetables will be sent to Singapore.

India elected to UN ECOSOC for 2 years beginning 2026.

• India has been elected to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations for the period from 2026-28.
• The council is at the heart of the UN’s mechanism to advance the three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental.
• The ECOSOC is considered a key organ that plays an important role in recommending policies related to economic and social issues.

Govt to conduct Population Census 2027 in two phases with caste census.

• The Government has decided to conduct the Population Census – 2027 in two phases, along with the enumeration of castes.
• The first phase will be conducted in hilly and snow-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Ladakh beginning 1st of October, 2026.
• The second phase covering other parts of the country will be held from 1st of March 2027.

Two more Ramsar wetland sites in India, taking total to 91.

• Two more wetlands from India have been added to the list of Ramsar sites, taking the number of such sites in the country to 91.
• The latest to join the list of Ramsar sites in India are Khichan in Phalodi and Menar in Udaipur, both in Rajasthan.
• A Ramsar Site is a wetland designated under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, an intergovernmental treaty adopted in 1971.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan participates in "National Agro-RE Summit 2025".

• Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan attended the National Agriculture-Renewable
• Energy Conference 2025 organised by the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) in New Delhi.
• On this occasion, he released the federation’s report and annual reference book on agriculture and renewable energy.
