Narendra Modi becomes India’s second-longest serving PM.

• On July 2025, PM Narendra Modi became the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of India in consecutive terms, completing 4,078 days, surpassing Indira Gandhi’s record of 4,077 days.
• Indira Gandhi served for 11 years 59 days from Jan 24, 1966 – Mar 24, 1977.
• Narendra Modi, aged 74, took oath as PM on May 26, 2014.
• Jawaharlal Nehru remains the longest-serving PM in consecutive terms.

NASA’s TRACERS Mission Launches to Study Earth’s Magnetic Shield.

• NASA has launched the TRACERS (Tandem Reconnection and Cusp Electrodynamics Reconnaissance Satellites) mission to study Earth’s magnetic field and solar storm impacts.
• Aim: To investigate magnetic reconnection, a process where the Sun’s and Earth’s magnetic fields interact, causing energy bursts.
• Launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.

Net FDI inflows fell 98% in May 2025 as repatriation increased 24%.

• India's net foreign direct investment plummeted 98% to $35 million in May 2025, primarily due to increased repatriation and decreased gross inflows.
• While gross inflows experienced an 11% YoY decline to $7.2 billion, repatriation surged by 24% to $5 billion.
• Despite this FDI dip, India's foreign exchange reserves remain robust at $696.7 billion.

Yoga may cut risk of type 2 diabetes by 40%, new report finds.

• A new report titled Yoga and Prevention of Type 2 Diabetes shows regular yoga can reduce Type 2 diabetes risk by up to 40% in high-risk individuals.
• The report was presented to Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and Science & Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh.
• Conducted by the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), led by Dr. S.V. Madhu.

Geetanjali Shree wins PEN Translates award.

• Geetanjali Shree's book Once Elephants Lived Here has won the PEN Translates award.
• The book was translated from Hindi to English by Daisy Rockwell.
• The award was announced by English PEN, a London-based human rights and literary organization.
• The PEN Translates award recognizes outstanding literary translations from around the world.
