Centre to set up Bureau of Port Security for ports safety.

• The Central Government has decided to establish a Bureau of Port Security (BoPS).
• BoPS will be a statutory body to regulate and oversee security at ports, vessels, and port facilities across India.
• It will be established under the Merchant Shipping Act, 2025.
• The bureau will function under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW).

Pro Wrestling League unveils new logo ahead of 2026 return.

• The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) unveiled its new official logo ahead of its fifth season.
• The league’s return marks a revival after a seven-year hiatus.
• PWL is sanctioned by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
• The new logo is inspired by the traditional red-and-blue wrestling mat.
• It symbolises strength, balance, and competitive spirit.

Japan takes final step to restart world’s largest nuclear power plant.

• Japan has taken a final step to allow restarting the world’s largest nuclear power plant with a regional vote.
• Restart approved nearly 15 years after the 2011 Fukushima disaster.
• The plant will be operated by Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO).
• Fukushima Daiichi disaster is considered the worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl (1986).
• Kashiwazaki-Kariwa is located in Niigata Prefecture.

DRDO completes user trials of Next-Gen Akash missile.

• DRDO successfully completed User Evaluation Trials of the Next Generation Akash missile (Akash-NG) system.
• Akash-NG missiles successfully intercepted aerial targets at different ranges and altitudes.
• Akash-NG is designed to provide robust air defence against multiple aerial threats.
• The missile system features an indigenous Radio Frequency seeker.
• It is powered by a solid rocket motor.

Odisha to hold special Gram Sabhas on National PESA Mahotsav.

• Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced special Gram Sabhas across all PESA areas in the state.
• The initiative marks the National PESA Mahotsav, jointly organised by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
• The Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, 1996 (PESA) came into force on December 24, 1996.
