"Operation Chakravyuh": DRI Intensifies Anti-Narcotics Drive in Kerala.

  • Directorate of Revenue Intelligence launched Operation Chakravyuh on 30 May 2026 to dismantle drug trafficking networks in Kerala.
  • A total of 24 kg of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were seized.
  • Operations were conducted in Kochi, Malappuram, and Thiruvananthapuram.
  • Five individuals linked to trafficking networks were arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
  • Smuggling routes included airport baggage, courier consignments, and export cargo.


Government Notifies Export Levies on Petrol, Diesel, and Aviation Fuel.

  • The Ministry of Finance revised export levies on petrol, diesel, and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) effective from 1 June 2026.
  • Revised rates:
    • Petrol: ₹1.5 per litre
    • Diesel: ₹13.5 per litre
    • ATF: ₹9.5 per litre
  • Export levies are reviewed and adjusted every fortnight based on international crude oil and petroleum product prices.
  • The policy aims to discourage exports and ensure adequate domestic fuel availability.
  • There is no change in excise duty rates for petrol and diesel sold in the domestic market.
  • The levies are imposed through Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) and Road and Infrastructure Cess (RIC).


Health Ministry Launches ToFEI App to Promote Tobacco-Free Schools.

  • The Union Health Secretary launched the Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI) App and a new SOP for tobacco sample collection on 29 May 2026.
  • The ToFEI App monitors compliance with tobacco-control rules in schools and colleges.
  • It enforces the ban on tobacco sales within 100 yards of educational institutions.
  • The pilot project is being implemented in Rajasthan, Meghalaya, and Maharashtra before nationwide rollout.
  • The new SOP standardizes the collection, handling, storage, and transportation of tobacco product samples.
  • India has over 2,000 Tobacco Cessation Centres integrated with hospitals, medical colleges, AYUSH institutions, and NCD clinics.


AM/NS India Receives 1st PM-SETU Approval for Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster.

  • The National Steering Committee approved the first Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) under the PM-SETU scheme for the Visakhapatnam ITI Cluster in Andhra Pradesh.
  • ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, in collaboration with NAMTECH, will act as the Anchor Industry Partner to transform the ITI cluster.
  • Andhra Pradesh became the first state to operationalize industry partnership under PM-SETU.
  • The scheme has a total outlay of ₹60,000 crore to modernize 1,000 Government ITIs across India.
  • The initiative follows an industry-led Hub-and-Spoke model and aims to establish National Centres of Excellence in key sectors.
  • PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs) focuses on industry-oriented skill development and employability.
