• Phase 1 trials on 39 people confirmed safety; Phase 2 on 200 people will assess immune response.

COP31 Hosts Propose 35% Global Electrification Target.

• COP31 co-presidency (Turkey and Australia) proposed the 35x35 global electrification target at the Bonn climate meeting on June 10, 2026.
• The goal is to raise electricity’s share in global energy use from 20% to 35% by 2035.

UP Introduces Project Ganga for Enhancing Rural Internet Services.

• CM Yogi Adityanath launched Project Ganga in Lucknow on June 9, 2026, to expand rural fibre broadband in Uttar Pradesh.

JSW Infrastructure Secures Container Project at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port.

• JSW Infrastructure received a Letter of Award on June 9, 2026, for developing a container terminal at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata.
• The project will be executed under the PPP model on a DBFOT basis with a 30-year concession period.
• It will add about 0.93 million TEUs of container handling capacity.
• The project aims to strengthen container infrastructure at the Kolkata Dock System.
• Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port is India’s only riverine major port, located in West Bengal.

Vadhvan Port to Get World’s 2nd-Longest Breakwater Built by Afcons.

• Afcons Infrastructure Ltd has been awarded a ₹5,301 crore contract by Vadhvan Port Project Limited for constructing a 10.14 km breakwater in Maharashtra.
• The breakwater will be the world’s second-longest upon completion.
• Vadhvan Port is planned to handle 23.2 million TEUs, making it one of the largest container ports globally.
• The project aims to develop India’s largest public port and a major global trade hub.
• Afcons is a major global EPC contractor under the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, with operations in 31 countries.
