UK Recognises India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme.

UK Recognition: UK recognised India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) on 8 September 2026.
Purpose: Helps Indian exporters avoid double carbon taxation under the UK’s CBAM.
Covered Sectors: Aluminium, cement, fertiliser, hydrogen, iron and steel.
Tax Relief: UK importers can claim relief for the carbon price already paid in India under CCTS.
Global Recognition: UK recognises 16 carbon-pricing schemes, including those of the EU, China, South Korea, Japan and Australia.
Cooperation: India-UK cooperation on carbon markets will continue under the Energy MoU and Partnership for Market Implementation.

UNESCO Tentative List: India’s list has increased to 73 properties.
New Additions: Four cultural sites from Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Assam, and Rajasthan.
Colonial Penal Settlement: Includes Cellular Jail, Viper Island, Chatham Island, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island.
Nicobarese Cultural Continuity: Highlights the living indigenous culture and its relationship with the coastal environment.
Rangpur–Sivasagar Historic Ensemble: Includes major Ahom-era monuments such as Talatal Ghar and Rang Ghar, along with water-management systems.
Painted Haveli Towns of Shekhawati: Covers 14 towns in Rajasthan, known for ornate merchant havelis and traditional water systems.
Current Composition: 53 cultural, 17 natural, and 3 mixed properties.

Global 6G Initiative: India joined a US-led partnership of 26 nations for secure and reliable 6G networks.
US Leadership: The initiative is led by the US National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA).
Key Members: India, USA, UK, Germany, and Japan.
Focus: Promotes secure, trusted, and interoperable 6G technology.
Goal: Support the global transition from 5G to 6G in the 2030s.

Indigenous OISL: Astrogate Labs unveiled India’s first indigenous Optical Inter-Satellite Link (OISL) capability.
AstroLink Micro: Demonstrated a 10 Gbps laser communication terminal for space-to-ground connectivity.
OISL Target: New terminal aims for flight readiness by 2027.
Technology Readiness: Space-to-ground laser terminals have achieved TRL-8.
Applications: Satellite data backhaul, defence constellations, and secure orbital communications.

Defence Procurement: DAC approved proposals worth ₹1.10 lakh crore for the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Indigenisation: Around 98% of procurement value will be sourced from Indian industry.
Army: Approval for CBRN reconnaissance vehicles and Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH).
Navy: Procurement of Arudhra radars for enhanced surveillance.
Air Force: Approval for a new Electronic Warfare (EW) jammer system.
