Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched a project named "BOLD" to reduce desertification and provide livelihood.
- Project named Bamboo Oasis on Lands in Dry (BOLD) was started from Nikla Mandwa, a tribal village in Udaipur, Rajasthan.
- To reduce land desertification and provide livelihood.
- KVIC's initiative Khadi Bamboo Festival to celebrate 75 years of independence Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
- Under the project, 5,000 saplings of special bamboo species – Bambusa Tulda and Bambusa Polymorpha brought from Assam – have been planted over 25 bigha (16 acres) .
"Mariyappan Thangavelu" has been named the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent in the Tokyo Paralympics.
- Mariyappan Thangavelu will lead Indian contingent at Tokyo Paralympics.
- Thangavelu is the only the 3rd Indian to win a gold medal in Paralympics.
- Tokyo Paralympics will be held from August 24, 2021 to September 5, 2021.
- In 2020, he was awarded the Khel Ratna, the country's highest sports award.
- The 25-year-old Thangavelu hails from Salem district in Tamil Nadu.
- Thangavelu had won the 2016 Rio Paralympics T-42 high jump gold.
"Arjun Munda" laid the foundation stone of 5 "Eklavya Model Residential Schools" in Jharkhand.
- These schools will be constructed in Seraikela Kharsawan, West Singhbhum and East Singhbhum districts.
- Shri Arjun Munda also laid the foundation stone of Eklavya schools in Hatgamharia and Mazgaon blocks of West Singhbhum.
- All Eklavya Model Schools are to be equipped with facilities for honing the talent of the students in the archery sport.
- EMRS is the central government's initiative to set up model residential schools for tribal communities across the country.
"E-Sanjeevani", Govt of India's free Telemedicine service completes 70 Lakh consultations.
- E-Sanjeevani has crossed another milestone by completing 7 million (70 lakh) consultations.
- In another significant milestone, in June it served around 12.5 lakh patients,
- Which is the highest since the services were launched last year in March.
- Currently, the National Telemedicine Service is operational in 31 States/Union Territories.
- From past 2 weeks over 50,000 patients have been utilising eSanjeevani services and
- Around 2000 doctors practice telemedicine on daily basis.
The central government launched six "technology innovation platforms".
- Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Prakash Javadekar virtually inaugurated six technology innovation platforms.
- These platforms will focus on developing technologies for globally competitive manufacturing in India.
- These Six Technology Platforms have been developed by IIT Madras,
- International Centre for Automotive Technology(iCAT),
- Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI),
- Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI),
- BHEL, and HMT in association with IISc Banglore.
- Over 39,000 students, experts, institutes, industries, and labs have already registered on these platforms.
