MoRD and UNICEF YuWaah Partner to Empower 35 Lakh Rural Women.

  • The Ministry of Rural Development has partnered with UNICEF YuWaah to create livelihood opportunities for 35 lakh rural women through skill development, employment & entrepreneurship programs.
  • Initiatives include Computer Didi Centers & Didi ki Dukan in 5 states, aiming to scale nationwide.
  • The partnership also introduces a Youth Hub to promote women entrepreneurs & job opportunities.


Govt to Launch "Sahkar" Taxi: A Cooperative-Based Ride-Hailing Service.

  • Union Minister Amit Shah announced the launch of the Sahkar taxi service, a cooperative-run ride-hailing platform similar to Uber and Ola.
  • The initiative will allow the registration of various vehicles and ensure that the profits go directly to the drivers.
  • A cooperative insurance company will also be formed to manage insurance within the cooperative system.


India’s Social Security Coverage Doubles to 48.8% in 2024.

  • India’s social security coverage has doubled to 48.8% in 2024, from 24.4% in 2021, thanks to government initiatives expanding access to health insurance, pensions, and employment support.
  • Nearly 920 million people are now covered by social protection programs, with 65% of the population benefiting from government schemes.
  • Key programs: Ayushman Bharat, PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, eShram.


"Ripples of Change" Publication Launched on Gender-Transformative WASH.

  • The book Ripples of Change: Gender-transformative rural WASH programmes in India showcases 10 stories on rural WASH, emphasizing community leadership, women’s empowerment, and local innovation.
  • The Ministry of Jal Shakti also launched an upgraded website in compliance with DBIM and GIGW 3.0 guidelines.
  • The revamped website aims to improve citizen interaction, security, and inclusivity.


Sunil Kumar Wins Bronze at Asian Wrestling Championships 2025.

  • Sunil Kumar secured a bronze medal in the 87kg Greco-Roman category at the 2025 Asian Wrestling Championships in Amman, Jordan, defeating China’s Jiaxin Huang.
  • This marks Sunil's fifth senior medal at the Asian Championships, with previous achievements including a silver in 2019 & a Greco-Roman gold in 2020.
  • Sunil’s performance continues to build on India’s success in Greco-Roman wrestling.
